VeloVision is in development and not on the App Store yet. This page is where help lives once the app is out.

Getting set up
Most problems come from where the phone is. The filming guide shows it with pictures and a short video: where the tripod goes, how high, how to aim and what light you need.
- 5 to 7 feet behind the pitcher’s rubber
- About 4 feet to the pitcher’s throwing-arm side
- 4 to 5 feet high, sideways (landscape), 1x lens
Common problems
Tap a problem for the fix.
LightIt says it is too dark
Slow motion needs a lot of light, about four times what the normal camera needs. Move to daylight or a bright cage, and keep the sun behind the phone, not in the lens.
- A dim gym or cage will not work for spin. Speed can still read in dim light, with more noise.
- In dim light the app can film at 120 frames a second instead of 240. Spin needs 240.
- Do not throw into a white or light wall; the ball can disappear against it. Use a net, or hang something dark.
ReleaseIt says the pitcher hid the ball at the start
The pitcher’s body is covering the ball right after it leaves his hand. Two fixes:
- Move the phone out to the pitcher’s throwing-arm side, about 4 feet from his line, and 5 to 7 feet behind the rubber. From there the ball clears his body sooner.
- Or measure the distance from the phone’s lens to the spot on the net where pitches land, and enter it. Then the app does not need to see the release.
TripodThe phone moved or the tripod slipped
The phone must not move while you film a set, because the app reads the ball’s flight against a fixed picture.
- Tighten the tripod and keep it clear of the pitcher’s stride and follow-through.
- If the phone gets bumped, set it up again: aim, level the line until it turns gold, tap the net, and enter any distances again.
- If it says the phone was not level, turn it until the on-screen line is gold before the next pitch.
DistanceThe ball looks too small or too far away
If the ball is tiny at the net, the app has less to measure.
- Move the phone closer, within 5 to 7 feet behind the rubber.
- Stay on the normal 1x lens. Zooming in at 240 frames a second only enlarges the picture. It adds no detail.
- Film at 1080p, and keep the whole flight to the net in view.
No speedIt shows No speed
VeloVision refuses a result it does not trust, and tells you why, instead of guessing. The usual causes:
- The ball was hidden or left the picture before it reached the net. Aim so the whole flight is in view, and move the phone a step to the side.
- Something crossed in front of the phone. Keep the area between the phone and the net clear.
- The ball disappeared against a light wall. Use a net or a dark backdrop.
- The clip is too long or has other throws in it. Film one pitch per clip.
A speed marked Estimate means you did not enter a distance. Measuring the distance from the lens to the spot on the net gives a firmer number.
FocusI forgot to tap the net
One tap on the net locks focus and brightness. If you skip it, the picture can refocus or change brightness in the middle of a throw, and the ball gets harder to follow. Tap the net before you start, and do not move the phone after that.
Frame rateThe frame rate or the video is wrong
VeloVision films in slow motion, 1080p at 240 frames a second. Check that the frame rate in the app’s Settings says 240.
- If it says only a few frames of the flight were seen, use slow motion: 240, or 120 in dim light.
- If it says the video was slowed down after filming, pick it again and allow Photos access when asked, so the app can read the original. Or film inside the app.
HittingHitting in a batting cage gives no reading
Netting in front of the lens hides the ball. Put the phone inside the cage, or press the lens right up against the net. Use 240 frames a second and stand the tripod back so more of the ball’s flight is in view.
Accounts and the Cloud library
Free needs no account; your clips and results stay on your phone. An account (email and password) is for Pro’s Cloud library and for inviting friends.
PasswordI forgot my password
Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we email you a 6-digit code. Enter it in the app with a new password and you are back in your account.
It does not reopen your old Cloud library videos. Those are locked with a key only you hold, made from your password. To open them again you need your old password or your recovery code, the code the app showed you once when you made your account. Keep it somewhere safe.
If you lose both the password and the recovery code, nobody can open the old videos, including us. Your numbers and results are not affected.
RecoveryWhere is my recovery code?
The app shows it once, when you create your account. We do not keep a copy, so we cannot send it to you. Check where you saved it: a password manager, a note or a screenshot you took.
New phoneI got a new phone
Download VeloVision, sign in with your email and password, and your library comes back: your history, the numbers and thumbnails, and each video when you tap it. With Free and no account, clips stay on the old phone only.
Subscriptions
The app is not for sale yet. When it is, Pro is a subscription bought through Apple’s App Store, so Apple manages it.
- Cancel or change it: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Refunds: Apple handles payments and refunds. Ask them at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Plans and prices: see Pricing.
Invites
Every account gets an invite code. When a friend signs up with it, confirms their email and films their first pitch or swing, you both get bonus captures. The rules, the monthly limit and what Pro members get instead are in the terms.
Delete your account and data
- In the app: Settings will have a Delete my account button. It removes your account, your encrypted Cloud library and your invite records.
- By email: write to hello@velovisionbaseball.com from the address on your account and we will do it.
- Clips kept only on your phone stay there until you delete them or the app.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel that in your iPhone’s Settings, under Subscriptions.
Privacy
Your pitches and swings are measured on your phone. On Free, nothing is sent to us. With the Cloud library, videos are encrypted on your phone with a key only you hold. We do not sell your data, show ads or track you.
